The Regional Learning Network Center organized a seminar on Chulalongkorn University innovations for the restoration of the Nan River watershed forests.
On Monday, January 27, 2025, the Regional Learning Network Center, Chulalongkorn University, organized a seminar on Chulalongkorn University innovations for the restoration of the Nan River watershed at the Pha Sing Research and Technology Transfer Station, Pha Sing Subdistrict, Mueang Nan District, Nan Province. More than 120 participants from various agencies across all 15 districts of Nan Province attended the seminar.
The project was honored with an opening ceremony presided over by Mr. Banjong Khunphet, Deputy Governor of Nan Province, along with Associate Professor Dr. Pongchai Damrongrojwattana, Deputy Director of the Network Center; Assistant Professor Dr. Chittra Phiapukheaw; Dr. Pawaray Pajit, lecturer from the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University; and Mr. Nopporn Nonthapa as a speaker. The project utilized knowledge from university research and various innovations in reforestation, such as the use of ectomycorrhizal fungi to promote tree growth and disease prevention, and the use of biopolymers for groundwater storage, thereby increasing forest fertility and promoting green spaces in Nan Province.
This initiative focuses on three main objectives: reforestation, livelihood creation, and raising awareness of natural resource conservation, especially forest conservation, so that communities can coexist with forests sustainably. It aims to expand knowledge and innovations in reforestation from Chulalongkorn University, linking the "Three Types of Forests, Four Types of Benefits" reforestation project covering 1 million rai with Nan Province, and to sustainably expand the reforestation network and increase green areas in Nan Province.
